Machine shops

Drawing work off your estimator's desk

Machine shops lose quoting time on drawings that are not ready to quote: hand sketches, PDFs without tolerances, samples with no drawing at all. We turn those into dimensioned models and drawings your estimator and programmers can work from, and automate the quote math that follows.

Drawings in mm, inches or dual-dimensioned (mm / in), to the standard on your title block.

How it works

  1. 1

    Send the RFQ material

Whatever the customer sent: sketch, photos, old print or sample.

  2. 2

    Get a gap list

What is missing to quote and build, and the questions to send back to your customer.

  3. 3

    Receive the drawing

Model, drawing and STEP ready for CAM, in mm or inches.

  4. 4

    Quote and build

Your estimator quotes from a complete drawing instead of guessing.

Who it's for

  • CNC job shops quoting from customer sketches and samples
  • Shops without a full-time CAD person
  • Shops that want a faster, more consistent quote process

Who it's not for

  • CAM programming and post-processor work on your machines

Where shops lose quoting time

The parts are rarely the problem. The input is: a sketch missing tolerances, a print with conflicting dimensions, a sample part and the words “make two of these”. Each one means an estimator stops quoting to do drafting work.

Sending that drafting out keeps the estimator on estimates, and the drawing you get back can go to the customer for approval before you commit to a price.

FAQ

Can you give us a STEP that our CAM system opens?

Yes. STEP AP214 or AP242 opens in Mastercam, Fusion, Esprit, hyperMILL, SolidCAM and most CAM systems; we can also export Parasolid.

Does the founder actually know machining?

Yes. The founder is a mechanical engineer with hands-on CAD/CAM, CNC and machining experience, so drawings are made with fixturing, tooling and inspection in mind.
