New from Downway
CNC Pulse
Your machine shop,
live.
Automatic production logging and real OEE for your FANUC CNCs. No spreadsheets, no clipboards and no operators typing: CNC Pulse reads the machine and shows what is happening right now.
- Read-only: never writes to the machine
- FANUC FOCAS2
- On the shop TV, desktop and phone
Live floor plan
Your shop floor from above, in real time
Every machine in its real place and size. Colour shows what is happening right now; one click switches to the OEE heat map. Tap a machine to see the program, part count and how long it has been in its current state.
Shop-floor cameras: Real machining footage; the numbers come from the simulation. Illustrative simulation: in your plant, data comes straight from your FANUC CNCs.
The problem
Spreadsheet OEE is not machine OEE
In most machine shops today
- Production logged on paper or typed in at the end of the shift
- Short stops disappear and nobody knows where the hour went
- OEE estimated by gut feeling, always optimistic
- Managers find a stopped machine only when they walk past it
With CNC Pulse
- State and part counts read straight from the CNC, timestamped by the server
- Every stop recorded with start, end and duration
- OEE to TPM / ISO 22400, by hour, shift or day
- A flashing alert on the board when a stop runs past 5 minutes
How it works
Three parts, zero typing
- 01
The agent reads the CNC
A lightweight program on a shop PC talks to each machine over the network using FANUC FOCAS2. Read-only: it never changes a program or parameter.
- 02
The cloud does the math
The server classifies every reading (running, feed hold, stopped, setup, alarm, e-stop, no signal), counts parts from the CNC counter and calculates OEE.
- 03
The board updates itself
On the shop-floor TV, the manager's desktop and the phone. Everyone sees the same number at the same time.

Real OEE
Availability × performance, no guesswork
Planned time comes from your shifts and breaks. Micro-stops under 2 minutes count as speed loss instead of vanishing. Ideal cycle time comes from the program, the machine or is learned from history.
- Plant OEE weighted by each machine's time
- Parts per hour, utilization, MTBF and MTTR in one place
- CSV export for your own reports
- 85%+World-class benchmark
- 60–75%A good starting point for CNC
- < 2 minMicro-stops count as speed loss
Compatibility and security
Built for your machine fleet
FANUC FOCAS2
FANUC controls with Ethernet. Two-path Swiss-type lathes (Star, Tsugami, Hanwha and others) with program and sequence for each head.
Read-only
The agent writes nothing to the CNC. Programs, parameters and macros stay untouched.
Resilient
Keeps readings locally if the internet drops and flags a machine as "no signal" after 60 seconds without data.
Controlled access
A key per machine, database access rules and viewer and manager roles.
Rollout
From first call to a live board
- 1
Survey
Machines, controls, network and what you want to track.
- 2
Agent install
On a shop PC, with a connection test machine by machine.
- 3
Shifts and cycles
We set up shifts, breaks, targets and the standard cycle of your programs.
- 4
Board goes live
TV on the shop floor, team access and a short training session.
Frequently asked questions
Does CNC Pulse change programs or machine parameters?
No. The agent only reads data through FOCAS2. It writes nothing to the CNC.
Does it work with Siemens, Mitsubishi or Heidenhain?
Today CNC Pulse reads FANUC controls with FOCAS2 over the network. If you run other controls, tell us in the demo and we will assess it.
Does it measure quality and scrap?
Not yet. Current OEE covers availability and performance, with quality set to 100%. Scrap tracking is on the roadmap.
Does the shop need internet?
Yes, the agent PC needs internet to send data. If the connection drops, it keeps readings locally.
Do operators have to log anything?
No. State and parts come straight from the CNC. Only maintenance and disabled machines are set by hand, when needed.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the number of machines and the rollout. In the demo we show the system running and send a fixed proposal.
Origin
A project conceived at the University of Mogi das Cruzes
CNC Pulse was born at UMC (Brazil) and turned by Downway into a product ready for the shop floor.
