Google Ads extensions, now called assets, expand your ad with links, a phone number, details and images, take up more space on the results page and often lift CTR. For a manufacturer, the core set includes sitelinks, call, structured snippets, callouts, image and location. Use the checklist below and configure one item at a time.

Asset checklist for manufacturers

1. Sitelinks

Why it matters: they send the user straight to the right page, such as product range, certifications, completed projects and quote requests. How to set up: create four to six sitelinks, each with a short title and two description lines. Check that each link opens a page that exists and delivers what the text promises.

2. Call

Why it matters: many technical buyers prefer to phone. How to set up: enter a business number that is answered during ad hours and use scheduling to hide the asset outside working time. Turn on call reporting to track duration and source.

3. Structured snippets

Why it matters: they list attributes in a scannable way, such as materials, processes or standards. How to set up: choose a Google header (for example types or services) and list three to ten real values, such as laser cutting, bending, welding and machining.

4. Callouts

Why it matters: they reinforce differentiators without using description space. How to set up: use short, verifiable phrases like Material Certificates, Small Batches Welcome or Ships Nationwide. Avoid promises you cannot keep.

5. Image

Why it matters: a real product photo helps people see what you do before clicking. How to set up: upload sharp pictures of parts, machines or the plant, without overlaid text and with good lighting, following Google’s current specifications.

6. Location

Why it matters: it builds trust and lets people searching for a nearby supplier find your plant. How to set up: link your Google Business Profile with the correct address, phone and updated hours. Keep details identical to your website.

7. Lead form

Why it matters: it captures contact details without leaving Google. How to set up: use with caution; quality tends to be lower than a form on your own site, so track how many of these leads become opportunities.

Common asset mistakes

  • Sitelinks that point to the same page or to generic pages.
  • Phone asset active outside business hours.
  • Generic callouts such as quality and trust.
  • Location details that differ between ad, website and business profile.
  • Never reviewing performance by asset.

How to measure and adjust

Track metrics per asset: clicks, CTR and conversions. Replace weak performers and test new versions. Google decides which assets to show in each auction, and their appearance depends on ad rank, so ads with better position and quality tend to show more of them.

Assets deliver more when the destination page is up to standard. If your sitelinks lead to weak pages, improve your industrial website. And if you want help reviewing the account, Downway’s paid ads team can assist.
