Google Ads Call Campaigns for Industrial Companies
A guide to google ads call campaigns for industry: when to prioritize phone calls, ad schedule, call tracking and how to prepare your sales team to answer.

A Google Ads call campaign turns your ad into a call button, and it makes sense when your customers settle purchases by phone: urgency, replacements, a machine standing idle, or a quote that takes a conversation. To work, it depends on three things: the right schedule, tracking and someone ready to answer.
When to prioritize calls over forms
Phone is the preferred channel when the problem is urgent or hard to explain in writing. Examples: repairing a stopped machine, emergency replacements, equipment rental, or custom service quotes where the supplier needs to ask questions.
- Emergency purchases, such as a line down waiting for a part.
- Local technical services such as maintenance and field support.
- Older buyers or smaller companies that prefer to talk.
- Items whose price depends on questions, such as dimensions, quantity and material.
If the sale is planned and documented, with long specifications and attachments, a form usually serves better. Many accounts combine both channels.
Call formats available
There are three main routes: the call asset, which adds your phone number to regular search ads; call-only ads, where the click starts the call directly (availability and format change over time, so check the platform); and call conversions from your website, when a visitor dials the number on the page.
Ad schedule
Set the schedule so ads with a call option appear only when someone can answer. A missed call is lost money and a dented reputation. If your hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., keep form and WhatsApp ads running the rest of the day and reserve the phone for business hours.
Call tracking
- Turn on Google’s call reporting, defining a minimum duration to count as a conversion, for example 60 seconds.
- Use a Google forwarding number, which tells you which ad and keyword produced the call.
- On your website, install call tracking so calls are attributed to campaigns.
- Record in the CRM which calls became quotes and orders, and import that as an offline conversion.
- Review recordings or notes from a sample of calls, where law and consent allow.
Sales handling: the link that decides
Paid ads bring the call, but the person answering converts it. Decide who picks up, which script they follow and what happens when nobody is free. Answering in a few rings, introducing the company and asking what the customer needs already improves results a lot.
Train the team to log each call with name, company, need and deadline. Without that, ad spend is lost in the salesperson’s memory. For low volumes, an AI assistant with automated intake can collect details after hours and pass them to sales.
What to measure
Track number of calls, answer rate, average duration, cost per qualified call and calls that became quotes. If many calls are missed or short, the problem may be the schedule, the number or the ad copy. Adjust your paid ads strategy based on this data, not just call volume.
Frequently asked questions
Are call campaigns worth it for B2B?
They are in niches with urgent or consultative purchases, where customers prefer to talk. For long, documented purchases a form usually works better.
How do I avoid calls from the merely curious?
Make clear in the ad what you sell and to whom, set a minimum duration to count a conversion, and show the phone only during business hours.
Can WhatsApp replace the phone?
It can complement it. Some buyers prefer messaging, others calling. Test both channels and compare cost per opportunity.
